Motorola Cliq with Motoblur CustomerReview
I recently purchased this item to replace my old cell phone that did not do apps. I was pleasantly surprised by the ease of use at the touchscreen, ease of adding and using apps (pandora radio, facebook, bank of america, amazon, and a TON of others that are free). The phone itself seems to be durable, but I would encourage you to buy the screen guard and the shell case that protects to corners if it is dropped. Sometimes if you purchase it at the AT&T store they will throw this and a few other items in as free accessories. The downside of the protective screen if you buy it, is that it is expensive, and it is very poorly made. The first one I had broke within a week and had to be replaced. The battery life really leaves something to be desired. When I purchased it, I was told I would need to charge it every other day, but I find myself charging it everyday at a bare minimum, sometimes twice in one day if I am using it heavily. I suppose that is the story with a touch screen phone. My favorite feature is being able to use Pandora radio and Youtube via my mobile phone, and to always have the Internet handy. They also told me when I bought it that this phone is powered by Droid, whatever that means. Overall, I am very happy with this phone and I use it constantly to check Facebook, listen to Pandora, and watch Youtube videos. Only MAJOR complaint, is that it does not automatically import your contacts from your old phones sim card, but it WILL automatically import all of your Facebook and Myspace, and maybe Twitter (I don’t Tweet, but they told me it would.) The final part of the MAJOR complaint, is that when it finally does import all of your contacts, it imports them ALL under ONE contact menu, and then you have to choose from sub-menu’s (facebook, myspace, motoblur) of which contacts you wish to use. That is kind of inconvenient in my opinion, but overall you get used to it after using the phone for a while. Good luck, I hope this review was helpful to you.

Touchscreen and 1.5 ruin a decent looking phone. – Angus Ware –
The CLIQ may look nice and have a good weight and feel in your hand, but it suffers from a poor build quality, meagre battery life and a terrible touchscreen. I bought a CLIQ and within 2 weeks the touchscreen began to sense touches when I wasn’t touching the screen. This makes using the phone almost impossible. I took the phone back for a repair and within 10 days of the repair the same issue occurred. I got in touch with Motorola and they sent me a brand new handset. And yet, 10 days later, the same issue began occurring.
The problem is so bad that the phone is able to ‘draw’ pictures in the app DrawPad.
Motorola have nothing to say since I reported that their replacement handset has the same issue. As I am locked into a 24 month contract and the warranty is only 12 months, I expect Motorola would have the decency to provide me with a phone that actually works – no such luck.
I cannot recommend this phone to anyone. The bottom casing near the buttons comes unstuck after a day of opening, the battery life is poor, the software is still stuck in the dark ages on Android 1.5 and Motorola has no intentions of transparency about when, or if, the update to 2.1 or 2.2 is coming. But hey, once they’ve got your money why would they care?
There are better phones with better deals available, and you won’t be taking your phone in for repair every 10 days.
If for some crazy reason you buy this phone, don’t buy it on a contract, or buy it on a 12 month contract because it’s only going to last that long. If you want a good QWERTY slider running Android, avoid Motorola’s MotoBlur phones at all costs: they all feel this crappy, they all run 1.5 and they’re all made by a company that doesn’t care much about producing quality products anymore.
